Coolsculpting by Zeltiq is a new device which can safely remove fat without surgery. Research out of Massachusetts General Hospital showed fat cells die at a higher body temperature than skin and adjacent tissue. Zeltiq Aesthetic used this information to create a device which cools areas of the body to the lethal temperature of fat but spares the skin, muscle and nerves. This is called cryolipolysis. Studies have demonstrated a 20-25% reduction of fat per treatment with results seen as early as 6 weeks. Final results are seen at 2-4 months but the treatment can be repeated in the same area if further reduction is desired.

The applicator is a fixed size and must be applied to each area for one hour. Multiple areas can be treated in one session or divided over several days depending on your schedule. Retreatment of an area will require a 2 month interval. There is minimal discomfort with this procedure. In fact, you can work on your computer, talk on the phone or watch TV. There is no downtime. You can return to work or resume your usual daily activities.
