Stem Cell Growth Factors

The new hot topic in medicine is stem cells. Although they have tremendous potential we are still in the infancy of understanding and implementing their use in aesthetic practice. The fact that stem cells can only be used in the individual who provides them has been a major limitation until now. Growth factors and peptides however can be used by everyone regardless of the stem cell source. To date most growth factors on the market have been developed from plant sources. There are a few from animal cell sources but the number and function of them are limited.

The creator of ‘Root of Skin’ has devised a way to differentiate these stem cells to become precursor skin cells. These precursor cells then actively produce all the peptides and growth factors which are needed to signal skin cell growth and rejuvenation. All these growth factors have been harvested and made available as a serum for topical use for all skin types.

Owing to the fact that these are not the stem cells themselves, they can be used universally. Their non-acidic or basic character makes them non-irritating which increases tolerance. Since they signal all skin cells, their usage is widespread across skin types regardless of pigment.

Current skin care products are either essential nutrient the skin cells need or acids designed to exfoliate. Such products result in skin irritation which stimulates a healing response. The stem cell serum works by a completely different mechanism. This product directs the skin cells to completely rejuvenate by signaling factors. Nutrients are still needed, but now the cell utilizes those nutrients more effectively. This product works synergistically with the KesslerMD skincare line.

A concentrated growth factor serum is also available. I have begun using this product with micro needling. The aim is to drive this product into the basal layer of the dermis where our native precursor cells are to deliver the growth factors directly to the cells which need them. The initial results recorded are quite impressive and client satisfaction is extremely high. We are seeing improvement in fine lines and wrinkles, textural improvement in the skin and an overall healthy glow to the skin.
