This powerful toxin binds motor nerves and prevents the nerve from activating a muscle. Muscles contract and get shorter but skin can’t do this. When muscles contract skin folds. It is the repetition of folding over time that leads to both volume loss and the formation of wrinkles and fine lines. I
It is for this reason that Botox can actually be used to prevent the formation of lines and thereby justify the millennials use of the product. Once lines are present at rest they can be softened by Botox but either fillers or resurfacing will be needed to really address them.
Manipulation of muscles with Botox can be done artistically to elevate the eyebrow position, stop the frown and minimize forehead contraction. Other wonderful uses for Botox include balancing facial asymmetry and relief from migraine headaches and headache and jaw pain caused by teeth grinding and TMJ. Axillary hyperhidrosis, otherwise known as excessive sweating from the armpits can also be resolved with Botox. New indications arise every few months making this an exciting product to work with.
What is Botox cosmetic?
Cosmetic botox is derived from the botulinum toxin. Despite the concern that statement raises, it is not poisonous. The substance is purified and safe in the small doses which are delivered by injection to specific site. When injected by someone with in-depth knowledge and experience, Botox injections are relatively painless but topical numbing creams and ice can help make this even more tolerable. How is the Botox Injectable used?
Your BOTOX Injections for Women will be performed in Dr. Robert Kessler's surgery center located in Corona Del Mar.
Adverse Effects of Botox
The adverse effects of Botox are predominantly related to it being injected into the wrong place. If too much Botox is placed in the forehead or it is placed too close to the eyebrows, the eyebrow can drop. This makes the brow feel heavy and can even impact your vision as eyelid skin descends at the level of the upper lid crease. If Botox drifts down into the upper eyelid, the upper eyelid can drop. The position of the eyelid will actually cover a portion of the pupil. This can be managed with eyedrops to temporarily elevate the lid but definitive treatment requires time for the Botox bond to be broken. This can take 6-8 weeks. Thankfully these are rare occurrence when your injector understands the anatomy. Although people say they have a Botox allergy, Dr. Kessler believes the allergy is related to the preservatives present in the saline used to reconstitute the Botox. Many clients have been successfully treated by Dr. Kessler who believed they had this allergy.Schedule a Consultation
