VANQUISH METhe last decade has witnessed great technological advances in the area of nonsurgical permanent fat reduction. Previously, devices used ‘cold’ therapy to kill the body fat which but this has many negative side effects and limited applicability.
Recently, radiofrequency has been put to great use for yielding reliable and long-lasting results with the added benefit of skin tightening.
Vanquish ME by BTL is a noncontact radiofrequency device which functions using field technology. It selectively heats the fat cells to their lethal temperature, while preventing harmful damage to the skin or underlying muscle. The process is conducted using an oscillating field of electrical energy.
Skin and muscle are good conductors of electrical energy, while fat is not. The Vanquish ME technique uses this fact and allows the selective heating of the fat. Although the skin does not reach the same temperature as the fat, the elevated temperature of the skin causes tightening of the collagen network.
Vanquish ME has two hand pieces, which allow for contouring of the trunk and the extremities. The large applicator addresses the abdomen and hips but can also address the buttock region and muffin top if you lie on your stomach. The second applicator is used on the arms and bra line fat (back region) and inner and outer thighs.
In the process, the fat cells which are damaged attempt to self-repair. Such fat cells are not killed immediately, but rather die off gradually over months. It is for this reason you are not exposed to a large amount of liquid fat entering the bloodstream at the time of treatment. Gradually, as the fat cells fail, they die off and are removed by the immune system.

The process gets completed when such fat cells get cleared from the body by the lymphatic system. This gradual process can take as long as 3-6 months.
The treatment results and physical improvements can be visible by the end of the treatment series but continue for 3-6 months thereafter. A significant 20% reduction in the fatty layer of the treated area is a reasonable expectation in terms of the final contour.
