Although facelift surgery and can do wonders to correct cosmetic concerns not everyone is ready to take those steps. The advent of nonsurgical devices has created the opportunity for improvements in skin and facial contours without going under the knife. Exilis Ultra is a great device which uses radiofrequency and ultrasound to rejuvenate facial and body contours by tightening the skin and reducing fat simultaneously, making it a versatile treatment technique.
The Exilis Ultra Procedure
For patients who prefer non-invasive techniques to address their cosmetic goals, Exilis Ultra can lift and tighten the skin in as little as 15 minutes per area. No anesthesia, incisions, or stitches are required. Any area of the body where skin firming and fat reduction is desired can be treated. Sites which are commonly targeted include the face, neck, jowls, hips, thighs, and abdomen.
When undergoing Exilis Ultra, radio frequency (RF) and ultrasound are used to tighten facial and neck skin. An additional hand piece attachment also allows for the tightening of various areas of the body. The thermal energy emitted from the device penetrates the tissue layers without causing damage to the skin. Collagen is reorganized and tightened. Fat cells are uniquely susceptible to heat and cold. When fat cells are heated to 42 C and higher lethal injury occurs. These cells will attempt to repair themselves. Once the cells die the immune system clears them away. This is a process which can take up to 3 months.
The Exilis Ultra hand piece emits heat as it targets the tissues below the surface of the skin, but it is not painful. A cooling element in the applicator will prevent the skin from feeling too warm, making anesthesia unnecessary. Maintaining the tissue at this elevated temperature is the key to great results with this device.
It is important that you are well hydrated the day of your treatment. Optimal outcomes require hydrated tissues at the time of treatment.

Recovery Following Exilis
Patients can return to work, as well as exercise and strenuous activities, the same day as undergoing Exilis ultra treatment. Light physical activity immediately following the procedure, as well as increased water consumption, is encouraged for optimal results. Some redness of the skin may linger for a few hours following treatment. Although improvements can be seen in as little as one treatment, a minimum of four treatments a week a part is recommended in order to achieve results.
01 What is Exilis?
Exilis is a noninvasive procedure designed to tighten skin, rejuvenate the appearance, as well as decrease fatty deposits anywhere on the body.
02 How does Exilis work?
Through a unique handpiece, a high radio frequency (RF) is emitted. The thermal energy created from the RF will penetrate the tissue layers without causing any damage to the skin. The fat cells will experience a metabolic change, causing them to shrink. Exilis will also stimulate the body’s production of collagen, which will further improve the appearance of the skin.
03 How is an Exilis treatment performed?
To begin, the targeted area of skin/fat deposits will be pinpointed. A hand piece is then used to emit a radio frequency (RF) to tighten facial and neck skin; a different hand piece will be used for the areas of the body.
04 Who is a good candidate for Exilis?
Both men and women, experiencing the skin laxity that comes with normal aging, as well as mild to moderate fatty deposits anyplace on the body.
05 Where is the Exilis treatment performed?
Dr. Kessler performs treatments with Exilis in his state-of-the-art office.
06 What type of anesthesia is used during an Exilis procedure?
No anesthesia is required with Exilis; patients experience no discomfort during the procedure.
07 How long does an Exilis treatment take to perform?
Exilis takes approximately 15 minutes per treatment area.
08 How long will the results from an Exilis treatment last?
The fat-reducing results of Exilis are permanent, although patients need to maintain an appropriate weight and exercise routine. Improved skin laxity can see long lasting improvements, although the normal aging process will continue.
09 What can I expect during my recovery from an Exilis treatment?
Following an Exilis procedure, patients should increase their water intake, and continue with light physical activity. The skin may have some degree of redness, although this should dissipate after just a few hours. That same day, patients can return to their normal routine.
10 When can I return to work after receiving Exilis?
Patients are able to return to work, school, and even strenuous activities immediately after an Exilis procedure.
What are the risks of Exilis?
Exilis is considered extremely safe. As it is noninvasive, Exilis does not hold any risk for infection or scarring.
12 Can I finance my Exilis treatment?
Patients are welcome to pay for their Exilis treatment, or any other procedure offered at Kessler Plastic Surgery, in a variety of ways. We accept cash, all major credit cards, as well as healthcare financing through CareCredit.
His professional demeanor is very reassuring. He exudes warmth & compassion that helped me make my decision to select him as surgeon. Even if he could take my money by performing 2 procedures, as I inquired, he advised me to not do it, as recovery may be harder. Some medical professionals are only interested in getting paid as much as the patient is willing to pay. He didn’t take advantage, in spite of the potential financial gains to him. I trust him for future services, even for family.
