Inner Thigh Lift
Artistry and Caring for a Masterpiece Called You
Inner Thigh LiftLosing a significant amount of weight is an exciting accomplishment, but many individuals are unprepared for the sagging skin and uneven distribution of fat deposits that can result once the weight is gone.
What was once envisioned as a time to celebrate can be discouraging when your figure does not return to your former self. In order to achieve balance between the weight loss and your physical appearance, plastic surgery may be an important part of the journey, along with maintenance of a healthy diet and exercise plan.
Better proportion of the lower body may require an inner thigh lift, to rejuvenate the legs. In the end, a beautiful youthful body shape can be achieved.
Inner thigh lift procedureThe ideal candidate for an inner thigh lift is a healthy, non-smoking individual who has had moderate to significant weight loss. The skin laxity in the inner thigh may be limited to the upper thigh but may also extend down the inner thigh towards the knee. Your weight should be stable and as close to your ideal body weight for at least 3 months before beginning the process of surgical body contouring.
Inner thigh lifts are conducted by Dr. Kessler in an outpatient surgery center. In most cases, the procedure takes between three and six hours, depending on the degree of skin laxity in the thighs.. The procedure is performed under general anesthesia.
The incisions used in the procedure depend on the amount of skin laxity present. A single incision in the groin crease is used for patients who have modest skin laxity limited to the upper inner thigh. Inseam incisions are made in addition to the one in the groin crease for inner thigh skin that is both horizontally and vertically lax. The two incisions form the shape of an L or a T. The vertical incisions heal well as they are under minimal tension.
Liposuction may be used to obtain an optimal contour of the thigh. The skin will be lifted and given deep tissue support to promote long-lasting results. By re-draping the tissue, a smoother texture and shapelier body contour is achieved. Excess skin is then trimmed prior to suturing the incisions closed.
Recovery after inner thigh liftCompression garments are placed in the operating room and are not removed for the first 4-5 days. Sponge bathing is necessary during this time. Stitches are removed on the 5th and 10th day post op. You may return to work by 7-10 days. Compression garments are worn for a month. Discomfort is easily controlled with prescribed medication.
Four weeks is generally the minimum length of time suggested to refrain from heavy lifting and other strenuous activities. As with all surgical procedures, there are risks associated with inner thigh lift surgery but they are not common.
+^02 How is an Inner Thigh Lift performed?
Dr. Kessler will begin the Inner Thigh Lift by making a small incision along the groin crease, and depending on the extent of correction, down the inner leg along the ‘in-seam’ line. From here, he will excise excess fatty tissue and skin. Liposuction can be added to the Thigh Lift, to better sculpt the area. The tissues will then be repositioned to a healthy, attractive contour, and sutured for appropriate healing.
+^03 Who is a good candidate for the Inner Thigh Lift procedure?
Both men and women, in good health, frustrated by lax skin along the upper, inner thigh may make excellent candidates for a Thigh Lift procedure.
+^05 What type of anesthesia is used during a Thigh Lift?
The Thigh Lift is performed under general anesthesia.
+^07 Where are the Inner Thigh Lift incisions located?
For patients with more moderate correction, a single incision will be made along the natural groin crease. When a more extreme skin laxity is present, a second, vertical ‘in-seam’ incision will be made along the inner thigh.
+^08 What can I expect during the recovery from a Thigh Lift?
Patients should expect the recovery from a Thigh Lift to take between two and three weeks. Swelling and discomfort will be experience initially, although appropriate pain medications will be prescribed to keep patients resting comfortably at home. Between the 5th and 10th day, patients will return to Dr. Kessler’s office for a removal of stitches, as well as to follow-up on the healing process. Strenuous activities and exercise should be postponed for the first six weeks after surgery.
+^10 Will there be scarring after my Inner Thigh Lift?
Scarring will occur after a Thigh Lift procedure, either along the groin and/or vertically along the ‘in-seam’ area. These will fade over time, and are easily covered with clothing.
+^11 How long will the results from a Thigh Lift last?
The result from a Thigh Lift will be long lasting, although, patients will need to maintain moderate weight and follow a healthy lifestyle.
