Inner Thigh Lift
Losing a significant amount of weight is an exciting accomplishment, but many individuals are unprepared for the sagging skin and uneven distribution of fat deposits that can result once the weight is gone. What was once envisioned as a time to celebrate can be discouraging when your figure does not return to your former self. In order to achieve balance between the weight loss and your physical appearance, plastic surgery may be an important part of the journey, along with maintenance of a healthy diet and exercise plan.
Better proportion of the lower body may require an inner thigh lift, to rejuvenate the legs. In the end, a beautiful youthful body shape can be achieved.
Inner thigh lift procedure
The ideal candidate for an inner thigh lift is a healthy, non-smoking individual who has had moderate to significant weight loss. The skin laxity in the inner thigh may be limited to the upper thigh but may also extend down the inner thigh towards the knee. Your weight should be stable and as close to your ideal body weight for at least 3 months before beginning the process of surgical body contouring.Inner thigh lifts are conducted by Dr. Kessler in an outpatient surgery center. In most cases, the procedure takes between three and six hours, depending on the degree of skin laxity in the thighs.. The procedure is performed under general anesthesia.
The incisions used in the procedure depend on the amount of skin laxity present. A single incision in the groin crease is used for patients who have modest skin laxity limited to the upper inner thigh. Inseam incisions are made in addition to the one in the groin crease for inner thigh skin that is both horizontally and vertically lax. The two incisions form the shape of an L or a T. The vertical incisions heal well as they are under minimal tension.
Liposuction may be used to obtain an optimal contour of the thigh. The skin will be lifted and given deep tissue support to promote long-lasting results. By re-draping the tissue, a smoother texture and shapelier body contour is achieved. Excess skin is then trimmed prior to suturing the incisions closed.
Recovery after inner thigh lift
Compression garments are placed in the operating room and are not removed for the first 4-5 days. Sponge bathing is necessary during this time. Stitches are removed on the 5th and 10th day post op. You may return to work by 7-10 days. Compression garments are worn for a month. Discomfort is easily controlled with prescribed medication.Four weeks is generally the minimum length of time suggested to refrain from heavy lifting and other strenuous activities. As with all surgical procedures, there are risks associated with inner thigh lift surgery but they are not common.
